School of Bikes

United Bicycle Institute, based in Oregon, has been teaching frame building for over 25 years. They are a licensed (Oregon Department of Education) private career school teaching bicycle frame building and bicycle mechanics. UBI is also approved by the Veterans Administration to accept US veterans under the Post 911/GI Bill.

You can learn to build bikes at UBI as an avocation or leisurely pursuit, or it can become a full-time business.  Says UBI’s Denise Sutphin, “UBI is proud to have taught many frame builders, many of whom have not only shown their work at NAHBS but have won awards, too.”
