2015 NAHBS – March 6-8 - The Kentucky International Convention Center
Industry Nine

Functional Decoration
In 2005, Clint Spiegel founded Industry Nine Componentry (I9). What began as designing
suspension parts for RockShox on contract has quickly blossomed into a 16-employee company
that manufactures one of the leading hubs in the world, often compared to tried and true Chris
King.

Just walking around the NAHBS booths, one easily notices the components selectively
chosen by frame builders for the bikes they have on display. These custom bicycle builders are
some of the best in the world, and a lot of them choose I9 components to functionally decorate
what is literally their livelihood.

I-9

Stop and think about that for a moment. As a component manufacturer, what better compliment is there that some of the most brilliant minds in handmade bicycle design chose you? I9 components populate a wide variety of these handmade bicycles for the simple reason that they are of the highest quality, as well as one of the most aesthetically appealing.

The company’s signature color is red, but they offer a high variety of anodizing tints, which can even be custom designed for individual customers. I9 is known for the complete wheelsets they manufacture and build, specifically the unique integrated spoke to hub design, which provides arguably the most accurate spoke tension on the market. With 120-point engagement in the rear hubs, and the blaze of a variety of brilliant colors, these components are unmistakable on the road or trail.

Drew Hager is the I9 Graphics Designer, and there is something impressive about the swag at their booth. I9 displays hats, shirts, cozies, stickers, bottle openers, and many other items. All are just as well designed (quality and aesthetics) as the componentry.

Also, Drew has an excellent taste in beer. Then again, he and I9 are a product of Asheville, NC, and that
place is just doing everything right these days in relation to cycling and beer.
