Killin’ It KC-Style

Bikes, coffee and beer. Pick any two and you have a marriage made in heaven.

OK, yeah, maybe not coffee and beer.

Vincent Rodriguez of Velo+ and Maps Coffee Roasters in the Kansas City suburb of Lenexa sees the combination not as some illicit menage a trois, but as a family of products that are best when crafted artisan-style and with a common attention to detail.

To that end, he brought his own family of KC-based artisans to Louisville with him: Velo+’s in-house frame builder Julie Pedalino (Kansas City’s only female frame builder), who is exhibiting as a first-year builder, his own Maps Coffee Roasters which offers coffee blends with the cyclist in mind, ATM Handmade Goods, who make handmade frame bags and accessories,Taddihogg Hats, Lever + bike tools, 5 Points bike accessories, and Richard Pool’s alpha_lazer graphics and illustration business.

Also a steel frame builder who showed at the NAHBS New Builder Table in 2013, Rodriguez left his career with a major coffee company after 18 years of service to start his own bike shop, Velo+.

“This is our big chance to show the handmade community how we came together for success,” says Rodriguez.

You can meet the KC Bike Collective family at Booth 718.
